Jesus overcame the world by:
- Being prayerful and watchful.
He knew that devil was always seeking ways to deceive the righteous ones. Therefore, Jesus made prayer His own habit and was always diligent in recognizing and responding to the Holy Spirit. By so doing, He gave Satan no chance to interfere in His (Jesus) life and works.
- Developing a calm supremacy of the mind over life’s changing situation.
He understands that our wellbeing - peace, success and protection - do not depend on the ups and downs of earthly life. They do not depend on situations and changes. They are firmly secure in the hands of God. That was why Jesus slept in face of a raging tempest.
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling.
Psalms 46:1-3
- Detaching Himself from the world.
He did not spend His precious time on the cares and worries of life. He knew God makes adequate provision for those who trust in Him.
Jesus did not spend time worrying about money, wealth, house or children. He was solely concerned with doing God’s work, for which He came to the world.
- He did not discriminate among people.
Everyday, He went about doing good for whoever that comes His way, irrespective of sect, tribe, language or status. He treated all alike.
- Knowing the scriptures.
He not only believed in God, He went into a serious, intensive and extensive studies of the scriptures, sacred texts and spiritual books. He sought for knowledge of the Truth and engaged in spiritual science and practice. As such, He developed to such a high level in spirit that the world and all its riches and glories paled into insignificance before Him.
- Inquiring from the Father.
He always enquired from God. He did not do tings just because He knew how to do it or just because He had the power. He always followed in the footstep of the Almighty, and even boasted about it.
"Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.”
John 5:19-20
“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. “
Revelation 3:21
